Qatar Quarries & Building Materials Co. (QQBMCO) was established as a private shareholding company as per the directive of the H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the former Prime Minister and H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Ahmed Bin Jassem Al-Thani, the former Minister of Economy and Commerce, in order to ensure a regular supply of Gabbro Aggregate for the construction sector by increasing the import of Gabbro Aggregrate in a systematized manner. Its establishment had more importance in the light of the vast development in the construction sector which Qatar was witnessing and the positive impact it is having on the State’s economy.
The Company has formulated farsighted plans and strategies for the import of Gabbro Aggregate through the current ports of the State. It also has plans to expand the number of marine terminals in line with the demand for increased imports of Gabbro Aggregate. It thus plays a vital role in ensuring the continued progress of the construction sector of the State of Qatar. The QQBMCO management is committed towards consistently improving its performance by constantly modernizing its operations in order to meet the increasing demands of the ever-expanding construction sector of Qatar. It also plays an active role in ensuring the stability of prices. This, in turn, contributes to the economic stability of the country.
